Welcome to my world of visual art!
I’m Ayesha – a London-based visual artist, mother, educator, and advisor. For over two decades, I’ve been immersed in the creation of visual art while also guiding and facilitating workshops with various groups, from children and young people to families, schools, heritage sites, and community groups.
My journey began with a BA in Education and Art for Community and Public Spaces, specializing in ceramics. This foundation led me to establish a contemporary art practice deeply influenced by the adornment of the human form and the rich tapestry of African and indigenous cultures. Through my work, I delve into themes of culture, heritage, and identity, reflecting my own roots and experiences.
I’m particularly drawn to traditional methods such as burnishing and pit firing, constantly exploring new avenues of creation without the use of glaze. These techniques not only fascinate me but also inform the unique texture and character of my pieces.
As life unfolded, my role as an artist took on even greater significance. When both my daughters were diagnosed with autism, art became more than just a passion – it became my therapy. In the midst of chaos, I found solace in clay, using it as a tool to ground myself and my children, quiet the noise of the world, and forge connections amidst neurodiversity.
Driven by my personal journey, I’m committed to leveraging the power of visual arts as a means of communication and inspiration. Through education, mentoring, and coaching, I aim to empower others to harness the therapeutic value of art while honing their skills and finding their voice in the world of creativity.
Join me as we embark on a journey of self-discovery, expression, and connection through the transformative power of art. Together, let’s inspire and support each other to reach new heights of creativity and understanding.
